I only exploded a little bit, I mostly just got my feathers. They're very flammable.

Given how dangerous explosions are and how much you love to fly, that seems a lot more serious than you're making it out to be.

How'd that even happen?

I'd rather take the hit with my feathers that regenerate quickly than to break bones honestly. Blasted back into a wall, but aside from being bruised up, I was fine.

A villain, of course, although some people do have explosive quirks this was a little more old fashioned.

(If his bones splinter like a birds, they're probably lucky that breaking his ribs didn't cause splinters to puncture his lungs.

I debuted officially five years ago, I've been involved in a lot of different altercations in that time.

I'd be a terrible friend, I don't have time to have friends with my schedule.

You know how messy hero work can be then. Would you do it again?

Pretty sure your schedule was abusive, Hawks.

I was only able to last so long because the FEZ privacy laws allowed me to keep my identity a secret and Ortega helped keep attention off of me. My creators know who I am, now.

(So ...they can't return to their old self anymore. Can't even go near their old friends anymore without risking being found and caught... not that that stopped them from finding each other again, in the end.

It just made enacting their villain plans all the more necessary.)

All for the greater good. If I took longer breaks, bad things would happen and it would be my fault. [ He's told this often. He's too slow. He's not doing enough. ]

Yeah, but that wasn't really what I was asking. Did you like it?

Hawks, even if you never needed to sleep or bathe or eat and spent all that time working, you'd never be able to stop bad things from happening entirely. Even if every hero did this you wouldn't be able to. Even if every human did this bad things would still happen. And none of it would be your fault.

I don't know. (Yes.) Some of it was good.

It is if I'm supposed to be somewhere and I'm not.

I do sleep and bathe every day and I eat in my downtime. I just don't need long to do it!

Yeah, I get that, not all parts of it are good. You just do what you can.

Really? Even if all your limbs, including your wings, are too broken for you to move? Or if you had to stop something even worse from happening somewhere else?

I bet your masters don't care if they take a break and it hurts someone.

I'd get scolded either way. I'm the fastest, I should wrap things up quickly and move on. If I get hurt, it's because I made a mistake.

I don't know what people's schedules are like. They're there when they expect me to be, that's about it.

Pretty sure that just means they're assholes, not that it's actually your fault.

I'd be willing to bet my entire fortune of dubloons that at least half of them find every excuse they can to not actually do their jobs while still getting paid, and probably also pocketing the pay you're supposed to be getting.

I want to help so I don't mind trying to push myself.

I don't know, I don't exactly have the time to track their movements, and getting caught doing so would be a problem. I already know things I shouldn't.

You seem awfully preoccupied with people being able to take breaks for someone who claims not to want or need one.

I'm lazy! [ That's his usual response when people call him on it. ]

Realistically if the heroes can take a break and have other interests and relax, then things are better. That's what I want, things to be better. I don't care if they're better for me. I'm not important in the grand scheme of things.

You're calling yourself lazy when you're working hard enough to kill most people.

Yeah, but I don't really want to work that many hours. If I had a say I'd probably only work twelve hours or so a day.

Well, at least you're not completely enthusiastic about killing yourself via work.
