name: Hawks / Keigo Takami
canon: My Hero Academia
age: 23
canon point: While he's undercover with the PLF, prior to the final battle and the end of his mission. Between chapters 255-258.
history: Wiki Link

abilities: Quirk: Fierce Wings

Fierce Wings allows for Hawks to fly, of course. His known speed is calculated around 1000 km/h, and he says he can go faster than that. Speed is what he's best known for. Aside from that, he can use each of his feathers telekinetically, individually, and at the same time. Each feather can lift an adult human with ease and zip them out of dangerous situations, so somewhere around 200 lbs capacity. They also emit and pick up vibrations allowing him to 'see' through echolocation, and hear through them by picking up sounds. He can also set the desired sharpness and and pliability allowing him to use them as knives, and his primaries as swords in combat.

Hawks is dangerously intelligent, he has the capacity process well over a hundred points of input through his feathers, on top of focusing on other things right in front of him. He's also seen memorizing novels for the sake of his mission, and calculating risks and data on a fairly large scale, as well as sending coded messages. He's been trained in interpersonal connections, espionage and assassinations as well. He's a well rounded HPSC agent. His combat style is most akin to an aerial swordsman, and he both uses one blade and two, depending on what he has in hand. While he carries expertise, in universe terms, he's not considered physically strong, which is why he prefers speed over everything else because with a heavy hitter he will lose if it drags on too long. He's also seriously weak to fire as his feathers burn up very easily.

While not strictly an ability, Hawks is a heteromorph which means he also carries bird-like traits. His desired diet consists of mainly meat, preferably chicken as he's a raptor, he may be an obligate carnivore. He tilts his head like a bird and perches frequently, as well has to have bird-like bones to allow for him to take flight in the first place. He also has the sharp vision that hawks do and can see things with precision while flying overhead, as well has avian-like eyes and markings on his face. These are mutations that are separate from his wings as his wings specifically are his quirk.

personality: Hawks comes across as charming, friendly, gregarious, laid-back, lazy and something of a vapid playboy. All of this is by design, because his day-to-day personality is thoroughly curated by committee and was trained into him from a young age. It's incredibly disarming and he's pretty good at getting people to like him by mirroring what they want which makes him far more of an enigma for anyone looking beneath the surface. He can come across as disingenuous if he's trying too hard to get someone to like him.

In reality, Hawks wouldn't know lazy if he was within ten feet of it, as he's a total workaholic. While friendly seeming, he keeps everyone at arm's length, that's also by design because in reality he's enslaved to the HPSC and that's not something he can afford getting out. His personality is curated to be mildly annoying so that he's not really trusted by anyone. Yet, the cracks of his upbringing are on display if anyone looks - he has no friends to speak of, he has little concept of appropriate boundaries when it comes to himself and will tolerate things other heroes wouldn't, like people grabbing his wings and feathers. He also downplays his heteromorphic traits for the sake of his image because they would be a point of contention and friction if he didn't.

Hawks is deeply idealistic, he believes that the world can become a better place if everyone pitches in and relies on heroes a little less, by helping out in their communities. He's incredibly kind and altruistic, he's being driven by a genuine desire to help people which is not something many heroes can say. It's intrinsic, almost compulsive for him, it was evident even when he was a small child. He believes in doing things for the greater good and is willing to take on the suffering and dirtying his hands to protect someone else from being in that position. He's also an optimist, allowing him to maintain genuine cheer in the face of all the adversity he's faced in his life.

He's also very open minded, in that he doesn't necessarily believe ideological villains are wrong so much as their methods are. He doesn't see the world in black and white like many people do because he's had far more exposure to villains and the downtrodden than the majority of heroes out there.

He's been thoroughly conditioned and has run into the fallacy of maintaining the status quo for stability, instead of actually calling out the wrongdoing by the HPSC, which he somewhat recognizes is an issue. There are glimmers of rebellion with him, making him incredibly dangerous to them should they find out about that, evidenced most by the fact he maintains a secret residence that they are unaware of, away from their prying eyes.

Hawks has never had a good, positive relationship, nor has he ever known genuine love. He can be emotionally distant and fall into the trap of being only who his persona is. He has a deep capacity to care for people, but he's never received it in return. He's also likely never felt safe a day in his life, leading him to have a healthy paranoia, that and he's used to being under constant surveillance. His name is redacted, certainly, but notably not one person has ever asked for it.

Other Characters: N/A

Character Info

Full Name: Keigo "Hawks" Takami

Age: 23

Canon Point: Sometime around chapter 255-258, while he is in league with the League of Villains, before everything blows up in his face, literally.

Series: My Hero Academia

CRAU?: No

Chosen Key Power: Weapon

Characters Chosen Reality: Was sorely tempted to put the open sky here Hawks' piece of reality will be one of his favourite places - Fukuoka Tower, especially the highest observation deck. While it's not a very wide tower, it's definitely tall. Preferably with a view of Fukuoka at night, even if one can't just fly off into it.

Game Questions

The following questions are to give mods insight on how you plan to roleplay your character, and we will also designate to them their constellation based on this app.

What is your character's in-canon ambition?

    Hawks' primary ambition throughout his life has been to be a hero, but with the state of hero society that has become glaringly obvious to him as he got older, being a hero is not enough. He wants to change the world into a place where heroes are no longer needed, where heroes have time to relax because the societal problems that cause people to turn for villainy are improving. This is a lofty ambition that involves rooting out corruption and getting at the heart of human nature itself to get other people to care about those around them. His methodology has been to prod people, push them in that direction by being a nuisance because his personal circumstances are not ideal.

Who or what is your character's greatest weakness? Something - anything, that serves as their Achilles' heel.

    As a literal weakness, fire is a terrible match up for his quirk and always has been because his feathers are very flammable - but as a more abstract kind of weakness, Hawks' self-sacrificial nature is a problem that has overshadowed much of his life. He can tolerate all kinds of abuse and suffering as long as it's him and not someone else. If he can rationalize it as necessary, then it's okay for him and so the threat of harm to people around him is a decent way of getting him motivated. He'll throw himself into just about anything if it's to save another person. Anything for the greater good.

If your character encounters a problem, how do they handle it?

    Hawks is an intellectual type, despite the fact he has a non-standard education and a persona that is meant to make him seem like a vapid airheaded playboy, which means he's the type to consider 100 different outcomes to potential actions in the time he has to make the decision and he tries to act accordingly with the least amount of collateral damage. Most of his problems have been dealing with villains, to which he takes a rehabilitation approach to their actions in his desires. In practice, he's beholden to the Commission and orders are orders. If he cannot talk down a target and his orders are to kill them, that's what he will do. When it comes to personal problems, Hawks is more likely to avoid and shy away from them for as long as he can, because as long as it's not affecting anyone else he can avoid dealing with it.

What is the deepest truth your character refuses to acknowledge? What lingers in their unconscious self? Do they fear it, accept it, or avoid it? Would it shatter everything they believe in if it unravels or is unveiled??

    There's a lot of truths surrounding Hawks' past that he refuses to acknowledge, and they all wrapped up in his childhood. Both of his parents left scars behind but his mother's actions are particularly bad, considering she trafficked him to the Hero Public Safety Commission in exchange for a comfortable life where she didn't have to work again. His relationship with Tomie and his relationship to the Commission are two things that are intertwined in a mess that Hawks doesn't seem able to untangle. He's openly avoiding Tomie, despite whatever sneaking around he could do - he's never chosen to reach out to her and he's got a lot of guilt and regrets associated with this, including the fact he blames himself for her state and him being unable to help her despite the fact he was roughly six years old at the time.

    As for the Commission, he's their property, little more than an asset. It's something that while he rationalizes deeply, he runs from the underlying problem that this level of corruption is exactly the kind of thing he should be fighting against. He avoids the reality as much as he can, but he's also accepted this is how things are and he will do as he's told. He is afraid of the Commission itself, enough to allow this continue and who he would be outside of this role. Unraveling this would take a lot of time for him to process, but unveiling it would be disastrous for the Commission. He doesn't really care what happens to him, although it would surely hurt his career deeply, but it would look bad. On a surface level, Hawks understands all of this is wrong, but beyond that he's been conditioned to care about protecting them, even though he shouldn't.

If your character finished their Journey, do you feel that they would be satisfied at the end of it?

    At this canon point, Hawks has not finished his journey, but as My Hero Academia has ended, the conclusion of his journey is known. I think the way it ends for him is both tragic, because he definitely got a raw deal out of the entire story, but also he took a path that was going to be the most comfortable for him, despite the fact he could've done anything. I don't know that I would call it satisfying, but rather he would find it safe. He's stayed in the confines of the life he's always known, but all of the underlying problems are still bubbling under the surface. What he does find satisfying, is that he's put himself in a position to help his goals of changing the world, but anything dealing with changing his personal life he's completely shied away from. I also think it's bad for him in the long term to remain isolated from everyone, but he's chosen to stay in the place he always was, clinging to some semblance of familiarity.

ONLY ANSWER ONE of the Four, there are two groups[ROLEPLAY]: Which question would your character WANT to answer, and then have them answer it.

4. If your world or Universe was already dead, and there was no one else left to protect other than yourself. Would you feel it is worth protecting? Why or why not?

    I'd probably ask why me? I don't mean that I'm throwing my life away or anything, but I just mean that I'm not special. Why choose me? There are so many more amazing people out there, better people than me that should be saved. People who have a good future. I'm not any of those things. I get by being cute and fast, but that's hardly the most important thing out there. There are better heroes than me. I'm not someone who needs to be saved above anyone else, or at all really.

    Is there a way to get the world back? To save someone, anyone at all? I would do that. That's what I would do, and if they could pick anyone to save from our world alone, they should pick someone much smarter than me.

ONLY ANSWER ONE of the Four[ROLEPLAY]: Which question would your character WANT to answer, and then have them answer it.

4. Does it bother you to see everything wrong with the world, and be unable to change it? What would you do if you could? What have you done, so far, to change it?

    Of course it bothers me. There are a lot of things wrong with the world as it is, a lot that can and should be changed, but people aren't willing to do it. It's annoying, and frustrating, because some things could just be avoided if people cared a little more about their fellow man, you know? There's things I would like to say, to speak out about, but I can't. My wings are tied, so to speak. I can't be seen making trouble for the Commission. The best I can do is incite other people to do it. Share my thoughts and hope that someone else takes up the mantle.

    If I could do anything at all, I would use my influence the right way. I would tell people off for being jerks about other people's quirks or mutations. None of that matters. They're still people. I would help more with impoverished people and get more resources to them because no one should have to live like that. I would work hard to help those that take the wrong path to try and find a way back to being productive members of society. I want everyone to have a good life, and right now they don't.

    The only thing I've been able to do is help around Fukuoka. It's not much. I know it's not enough, not good enough, but I'm just limited in what I can say and do, so I can't really bring the heat down on the Commission as much as I want to. And other heroes? I wish they focused on this more. The job should be more than just catching villains. There's always going to be villains, but some of them are just desperate. If we could take that away then things would be better, for both the heroes and the people.

Again, please just pick one question that feels most representative of your character and have them answer their perspective. Each answer should be a small self-roleplay. We are looking for inner monologue; present this as if they asked themselves this question.

What aspect of the group interests you the most for your character?

    I was excited to share a game with Cytes and Mog again, although the setting and power scaling is interesting. I'm not sure how Hawks is going to fit into it but that's the fun part, taking him out of his comfort zone.

CHARACTER INFO

Character: Keigo "Hawks" Takami
Canon: My Hero Academia, Somewhere around chapters 255-258, while he's infiltrating the League of Villains
Age: 23

Background Information: Wiki Link

TL;DR

* Born Keigo Takami to an unnamed father and his mother Tomie as an unpleasant surprise, he grew up in a shack that didn't have a full roof, in filth on the edge of Fukuoka. His father, Takami was a thief and a murderer who was on the run, using Tomie's quirk for convenience before Keigo came along.

* Both of his parents were incredibly abusive and neglectful, keeping him isolated from the world.

* When Takami got caught and arrested when Keigo was around six, Tomie went on the run with him, the two of them being homeless for a time. She was unable to help herself and at his age he was unable to do much to help her. The Hero Public Safety Commission noticed Keigo when he saved some people from a car accident.

* The HPSC offered Tomie a life of comfort if she would sell her son to the Commission, which she did, without hesitation.

* Keigo was taken in for strict training, stripped of his identity and named Hawks in its place. Everything about his persona was sculpted and decided upon by the Commission. He was targeted with the idea that he was young enough to brainwash into being loyal to them.

* When he was twelve, his predecessor would kill the HPSC president and end up in Tartarus, leaving Hawks as the only known operative. It's likely at this time the new president would decide not to just make Hawks a hero, but a total spectacle.

* He debuts at 18, and within six months hits the top ten hero rankings. He climbed to third place after that, and is presently number 2. He's the youngest hero to open his own agency, and hit the top ten ranking.

* The HPSC continues to control his schedule and assignments, leading to his current assignment to infiltrate the League of Villains on top of his usual duties. His agency, his apartment and himself are owned by the HPSC to this day. Assignments include investigations, infiltration and assassinations under the cover of his day-to-day persona of the usual patrols, helping citizens and fighting villains of any degree. As someone who was trafficked for his quirk, and remains with them, he has no real autonomy to act on his own.

Personality:

1) Tell us about who your character is and what someone’s first impression would be upon meeting them.

Hawks is, at the root of it, an optimist. He tries to see the best in any situation, and beyond that, he tends to see the best in people as a baseline. Despite this, he is not exactly trusting, but he's more hoping for the best. Hawks is also incredibly self-sacrificial. He does not actually believe his situation is good, or moral, he thinks the HPSC is in some shady dealings, but he is willing to be the pawn to save anyone else from having to do it. He has all the empathy in the world for his predecessor, understanding her like no one else would because he's walking a mile in her shoes, albeit with a little less blood on his hands. Hawks is incredibly clever and intelligent, with the number of things he has to learn and apply in short periods of time, but he rarely lets that show, he always leans into his crafted personality.

He can be quite a polarizing figure. He comes across as gregarious, cheerful and bubbly, as well as a bit of an airhead. Hawks can say things that are provocative to make people think with a smile that makes it seem like he's just being dumb, when in fact he's trying to push people to do the thinking. He behaves as a showman, emphasizing the drama in things like bowing to people by letting some of his feathers flutter to the ground. People either think he's incredibly charming, or vapid and fake. Both views are actually right, he has a good amount of charm, but his entire persona is not his true self. In general, Hawks is a little more reserved, but he has a lot of energy. He doesn't naturally want to sit still. He despises dropping the mask to be serious, but will do it when he has to.

2) What is a driving force your character has? What goals do they have, what motivates them, etc?

For all the smoke that blows in people's direction to hide who he is, he genuinely is a heroic person who wants the best for those around him. He genuinely loves people and helping them - it's partly why he has a reputation for helping with even the most minor of tasks. He feels good reaching out to people and making their day better.

Because of the cage in which he finds himself, he's allowed himself two goals, the first of which is to be a hero. This goal is something he achieved, but he feels as though he can only keep doing it as long as he plays ball with the Commission and does what they say, so he is an ever loyal soldier. That is not to say he doesn't have doubts, or he doesn't push back a little bit - he does. His understanding of the villains being more than just one dimensional, even liking them as people and knowing their ideas are not wrong, just their methods, are things that would make the Commission very angry with him.

The second is his desire to make the world a place where the heroes have free time. Sometimes interpreted as him wanting to be lazy, something he leans into because that's part of his image, what he actually means by it is a world where everyone takes responsibility for those around him, so the crisis points where heroes have to intervene diminish. He wants everyone to do something when they see those struggling, not just turn their backs to cause chaos later down the line.

3) What are their flaws as a character? What is something they've messed up, or have done that they regret?

While he plays fast and loose with some of the limitations from the Commission, there are some lines he won't cross. Things like deciding how to use his platform, and how to represent himself. He believes he owes the HPSC, but also that they own him and he feels like his hands are tied. He rationalizes everything that's happened to him as a way to cope with it. All of his empathy for those around him also doesn't actually stop him from doing his job, no matter how distasteful it is. He may push and offer an alternate path, which would come at personal cost, but if there's no way forward in the end, he will follow orders. This loyalty and conditioning are a flaw in his thinking that he hasn't really overcome.

Beyond this, he has not forgiven Tomie for selling him to the HPSC. He genuinely thinks this is a serious flaw and that he should have not just forgiven her, but tried to save her from herself. The fact he was a child at the time means nothing to the guilt he carries, nor the gnawing feeling that remains each day he does nothing about it. She was, or might still be, a serious alcoholic and her not being his problem is a relief, something he feels guilty about. He regrets some of his missions and actions, on a personal level, but rationalizes them to himself as a self-soothing mechanism, believing the HPSC has to be acting in the greater good, that the trust in heroes has to be maintained.

4) Optional: What is something unique and interesting about them, or what is a fun little tidbit that sets them apart from the crowd?

While his quirk itself is in fact his wings and the control over his feathers, there's several indications that he has other heteromorphic traits that aren't quirk related, including his bird-like predator eyes, the way he cocks his head side to side, his preference for eating smaller birds making him strictly a raptor, the way he perches like a bird when he's out of sight of the public. It's entirely likely he has a few more hidden bird-like traits that have been trained out of him, or at least to be downplayed due to the nature of how the world sees heteromorphs, in an effort to make him more palatable and marketable to Japan at large.

Abilities & Inventory:

Quirk: Fierce Wings - A pair of huge wings on Hawks' back. He can control each feather telekinetically, all at the same time. He can detach them, send them places far out of his line of sight. Each feather can carry a weight of about 200lbs. Each feather also can pick up vibrations in the air allowing Hawks to 'see' at a distance through echolocation, as well as pick up conversations, depending on what he wants to do with those feathers. He can also sharpen his feathers to a desired hardness, allowing him to use them like blades. When the feathers are destroyed, they grow back within a week.

Superhuman Speed: In flight, Hawks is incredibly fast making him difficult to catch. Not just in spurts like All Might who might've beaten him in speed, he can maintain his speed much longer because it's natural to his quirk. His top known speed is roughly 900km/h, but he says he can go much faster.

Enhanced Sight: Aside from his additional senses that come from his feathers, he has excellent vision, enough to spot trouble happening on the ground when he's high above in the sky, or even when people are a couple of miles away.

Hawks comes complete with his hero uniform, which frankly is what he wears 90% of the time, including his flight suit, baggy pants and belt, thick warm jacket, gloves and boots. He also has yellow goggles to both keep his eyes from freaking people out and to protect them in flight as well as noise cancelling headphones, because he can hear everything through his feathers anyway.

ARMADA SELECTION

Like many a good hero, Hawks would make a great Paladin. He's very interested in maintaining law and order, naturally, and ensuring that everyone is safe. He can be sympathetic to those breaking the rules, but that doesn't mean they can just break them without consequence. Corsairs also value freedom which is something that Hawks genuinely has no real concept of in relation to himself, and at this point in time has little desire to seek it because he is continuing to sacrifice himself for the greater good.

* Manipulation
* Public Relations
* Business Savvy
* Modeling
* Performance

Canon Abilities:

* Quirk: Fierce Wings
* Telepathic control over his feathers including how soft or hard/sharp they are
* Flight
* Superhuman Speed, recognized as one of the fastest in the world, his fastest known speed is close to 900 km/h, and he says he can go faster.
* Extremely acute long-range vision
* Additional senses: While he sees and hears with his eyes and ears, he can also do the same with each of his feathers, using echolocation and picking up the vibration of voices which makes him an incredibly effective spy. Through small movements, breathing, heartbeats, etc. he can completely visualize the size of a person in trouble, the location his feather is in and decipher separate voices. He can do this with every single one of his feathers all at once (which is why his 'normal' hearing is often cut off).

Role: Myth
Role Qualities/Attributes: Hawks will manifest claws on both his hands and feet that he will not be able to clip off, sharpened canine teeth, as well as a bird's tail of black feathers, the feathers acting the same as his wings when it comes to their ability to be used. He will also gain resistance to poisons and gases.
Role Reasoning: While Hawks literally becomes one of the avatars for change in hero society, at this point he still represents the dark and hidden side to hero society. As an optimist, he recognizes that things need to change. He pushes other heroes to change through his somewhat erratic behaviour in an effort to make people break the mold of how things are being done right now. His actions are meant to make the pro heroes realize that the present way of doing things and platitudes just aren't enough, and that the people's support is what should matter the most. This suggests he's not at all pleased with the status quo of how things are going in society for the moment and he wants to affect change.

❥ Personality

OPTION 2 QUESTIONS (PICK 4-5) 100-300 WORD LIMIT EACH:

  • What was the most traumatic experience your character endured? How did this change them?

  • While difficult to pinpoint one experience exactly, definitely the most impactful traumatic experience was when his mother sold him off to the Hero Public Safety Commission. Not only had he been abandoned by a parent who didn't really want him, but at the same time she completely sealed his fate to be enslaved to the Commission presumably for the rest of his life.

    From that point on, his life was completely in their control. They stripped him of his name, even having his mother change her name and given a very comfortable life somewhere safe. They went through painstaking training to give him the necessary skills to operate as a very public hero, including his personable skills. Everything about his personality, appearance and lifestyle is curated and decided upon by the Commission. They own his agency, his apartment and him. He receives his orders and executes them, while being under constant surveillance. While they could hide him away in the underground like his predecessor, they took a different tactic by making him an extremely public hero, something that would add to the level of control.

    It's not just the Commission that's constantly watching him, it's the public and Hawks' role is to play his part as the cool, easy-going playboy that everyone wants to see. While he occasionally expresses light frustration, he finds himself completely at their mercy, only remarking on the farce of them ever 'asking' him to do things. They all know what this is. Managing to keep his optimism, he hopes for a world where the heroes won't have to do everything and even they will have time to kill, and a world where someone like him wouldn't be necessary.

  • What experience challenged your character's core beliefs? How did they handle this or change from it?

  • While the true impact of his actions for Hawks won't be felt for another handful of chapters, during his time with the League of Villains, he had the opportunity to get close to the members, particularly Twice. Although Dabi was his contact, once he was permitted to join the Paranormal Liberation Front as an operative, he spent most of his time with Twice. He was there to investigate and funnel information to the Commission, but as his target, Twice came to see Hawks as a friend, someone who would take the time to go over information with him. This allowed Hawks to mine him for information very carefully, but also it gave him insight into the villain.

    Twice seemed to be less of a heartless murderer and more of a person in dire need of mental health support. He was also the most dangerous member of the League of Villains on site, and while that made it vital for Hawks to keep his eyes on him and befriend him, it gave him a deep feeling of empathy for the man. Not just that he came to trust the wrong person - he always knew he was going to betray the members of the League.

    Despite all of his training, it's these things that would lead Hawks to extend to him an olive branch, a way out of the situation even though he had orders to kill the man. He would go so far as to offer him help when he finished his prison sentence. These are not things Hawks typically does, because he would be in deep trouble with the Commission at the end of it, should Twice accept his overture.

  • What is the most important and defining relationship(s) in your character's life and why?

  • I think with Hawks it's less that his relationships are important and defining and more like they aren't. He shares some level of friendship with the pro hero Best Jeanist, enough that the other trusted him to use him as bait during his mission and enough that he took him to his mother's home, but due to surveillance, it's likely that this relationship has a level of superficiality to it. He gets along with other pros, he's cooperative and genial, but he's not especially close to any of them.

    As a child he admired Endeavor, for proving to him that heroes aren't just in stories they are in fact real, but as much as Endeavor saved him once, he didn't do it a second time. He sees Endeavor as someone who is flawed and needs a push to actually take the number one spot properly, because for some reason there was no All Might succession plan. It's to that end that he begins manipulating the man, but he also doesn't think he's terribly smart. He has no desire to stand in the spotlight he's in, that's why he works to ensure that Endeavor takes his proper place as the face of hero society. This small thought is antithetical to what the Commission wants him to do.

    Outside of this, Hawks is beholden to his owners, and as such he doesn't really have intimate connections with anyone. This allows him to up and disappear on long term missions, but he has the skills to get in and make temporary friends and bedfellows as the need arises to get the job done. Considering how chatty and eager he is when he does get a bit of individualized attention, it's likely that Hawks is very lonely.

  • What is a headcanon (or two) you feel strongly about and that you prefer playing your character with? How is this supported in canon and why do you think it benefits the character's story?

  • Hawks' actual quirk is his ability to manipulate his feathers - he's a proper heteromorph and there is suggestion in his behaviours that there are likely more bird-like traits that he is not using. Society at large has a discomfort with heteromorphs in general and it would seem likely that the Commission would ensure that Hawks looks as ordinary as possible, outside of the wings, so that he can seem far more safe and accessible to the public at large.

    He finds himself longing for the air, feeling a call with a literal itch of his wings if he doesn't fly before too long. He has piercing, hawk-like eyes, accented with marks on his face that he hides behind his goggles. His vision is another raptor trait, as is his diet of consuming primarily meat with a strong preference for poultry. When he's on his own, he can be found perching in high places, which is bird-like behaviour. It's incredibly likely that he has other traits that have been trained out of him or modified periodically due to the reasons outlined above, like cocking his head to the side which he's done before but corrected quickly, gathering soft materials into a nest, stress gripping, making any bird-like noises, keeping his nails trim and neat so he doesn't develop talons and any wispy feathers that might grow in his feather-like hair would be removed to maintain this perception that he is very much an ordinary human with wings.

    This would be in line with both the plotline around how society views people who are different from them, as well as something that would not be outside of what the Commission would do as they control every aspect of his life. Hawks likely has no agency at all, no ability to make decisions on his own because stepping out of line would lead to consequences.
